Peru announces upcoming trade talks with China

Recently, the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Commerce and Toursim announced her country’s hopes to commence talks towards a trade agreement with China at the beginning of 2008. She reported that representatives of the countries had met to discuss preliminary matters and her belief was that the possibilities for a trade agreement were high. It was further reported that a formal announcement of the talks is expected from Peruvian President Alan Garcia during his upcoming visit to China in September. He is expected to travel to China following his attendance Sep 8-9, 2007, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group’s upcoming meeting in Sydney Australia (http://www.apec2007.org/).
