Closer China-Honduras Ties on the Horizon?

China's ambassador to Costa Rica recently stated that Honduran President Manuela Zelaya has expressed interest in establishing diplomatic ties with his country. Official word out of Tegucigalpa, however, is that there are not diplomatic openings in the works. Nevertheless, the Honduran government has announced plans to open a trade office in Shanghai.
