Upcoming China-Latin America Business Summit in Santiago, Chile

The first China-Latin America Business Summit will be held in Santiago, Chile, on Nov. 27 and 28, according to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The CCPIT, the Export-Import Bank of China, Chile National Chamber of Commerce and Chile Bank will co-host the meeting, which is aimed at enhancing economic ties between Chinese and Latin American companies.

Singapore on China's heels in Latin America

Singapore's trade with Latin America has been growing at almost 30 percent annually the past three years...doubling trade in the last five years. And experts say they expect things to continue on that path due to recent and future free trade agreements. Singapore is also the second-largest Asian source of direct investment in Latin America. Singapore's presence in Latin America includes multinational companies such as telecom equipment company Global Crossing, shipping line APL, and Flextronics.

China & Peru To Commence Free Trade Agreement Talks

It was recently announced that Peru and China on Friday, September 7, will be executing a memorandum of understanding in order to commence formal discussions for mutual free trade agreement. The memorandum is expected to be executed during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group's meeting currently underway in Sydney, Australia.
